Question

Have to click 'Clear' button twice

Hi,

I have been searching the forums and have noticed this issue being discussed in relation to hotspots, however I think it applies to other Captivate quiz types, specifically the multiple choice, true/false, matching.

Essentially, in a captivate default question where the 'clear' button and a 'retry message' is applied, the user has to click twice, firstly to clear the retry message and secondly to clear the selection. It would obviously be desirable to have the retry message and the user selection to clear with one click of the clear button. Clearly, the problem is more acute with hotspots because the original selection does not disappear and this affects the answer.

Does anyone know of a work around for this problem?

Thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

Probably you are already aware that a lot of things with default question slides occur in 2 steps. Because the user can also clear his answer before submitting the process is understandable. Also to execute eventually actions attached to the Success/Failure do you first have to click away that Success/Failure caption before the playhead will move on, execute that action and proceed to the next slide. This same behavior occurs with retrying a question.

I have a workaround to avoid the double clicking with Success/Failure, but here I'm stuck because I have not found a way to reset a default question by advanced actions. This is possible of course with custom created questions but that is no answer to your question. Sorry, just hoping someone else will offer a valid work around, curious about it myself.

Hi Lilybiri,

Thanks for your response.

It is reassuring in a way that you are equally curious. By the way the

problem with the variable function seemingly freezing my software was

incorrect. the problem was that I was viewing Captivate on dual screen at

home, but when I went away, i didn't reset the screen display on my laptop

and the variables pop-up box thought there were still two screens! Feel a

bit stupid here.
