Question

Having stopped audio with a swf inside a sidelet can someone create a swf that will resume the audio

Ok, rick is going to post the fla of this file and I will post the swf. Basically this is all about having a slide that has audio running all the way through and enabling the user to roll over a sidelet and have the video and audio stop playback.

At present, the max you can achieve is, to stop video. The audio keeps going and of course everything gets out of
sync. Rick has create a swf that you input into a sidelet ( after having imported your image or video ) which stops the audio. Fantasitc. Unfortunatly he was not successful in creating a swf that will resume the audio.

So there is the mission. To create something that will resume the audio, be it a swf inside the sidelet or something else.

Jane the .cp is not available to download as it is not required, and yes it will work with multiple slidelets I have update demo I put up, have another look

Rick I did not use mute as that would not work, I only suggested using mute as the original question didn't say that video audio was used on the slidelet.

I will stick the widget in the download section on my site when I have tested it a bit further

Also I would like to know if this would work when you have multiple sidelets one one slide, so when each of them is rolled over you get the same effect

Paul, I had a look around your website and was not able to find the .cp file for this issue. Maybe its there but I just missed it, could you place a link to where i might find it, and if its not avaiable, could i ask if you would be so
kind as to find the .cp and post it somewhere.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Jane

I'm guessing Paul's demo works in the same manner we were talking earlier.

So I took the code my fellow Adobe Community Expert Paul offered and created two .SWFs as he advised. The links are below:

    Mute.SWF
    Un-Mute.SWF

    Try those.

I am looking at creating a slidelet that does something very similar. I cannot seem to locate those swf's for muting and un-muting in the timeline slidelet or project to alow the user to rollover the slidelet... stop the regular slide audio... listen to audio in the slidelet... roll off the slidelet and have the audio from the original slide continue where it left off. What you have constructed Paul is exactly what I want a slidelet to do and if you can provide any further information or clarification as to how you did it... it would be greatly appreciated.

Paul, I think that's it - is it not ! Do you know what the web address of
where that .cp is on the raisingaimee website. How has he done it - stopped the audio and video, while the sidelet takes over. I'm so exited that I need one of you to tell me if this is in fact what ive been looking for ! is it.

Also, can i download the .cp file as to learn how he has acheived this.

Thank you both so much for helping me out on this one

Hi there paul. Am I right in thinking that your code will mute the audio. In my situation this would cause problems becasue you would roll over the sidelet - the audio would go silent and when you rolled off, or resumed the audio, it would have been playing so again the video and audio will be out of sync.

Rick - rather than another swf which would activate the audio and video when you roll off the sidelet ( while that is the perfect solution ) what about looking at a button the user can press to resume things, maybe Im wrong but that sounds a little easier.

( however for all those reading this that is not really the solution I am looking for, what Im looking for is the above solution where you can just roll off and on and so on )

Ok now the question is a bit clearer I guess you are after something like this
    HERE
i.e pause sounds while hovering or clicking over a slidelet

Rick if you stop a sound how are you supposed to restart it I do not know a way other than re starting the movie, thats why I originally suggested mute

    Hi Paul

Cool beans! That's way cool. I'm assuming you used the mute thing you suggested for that, no?

So it would seem I was allowing my logic to get in the way of it all.

    Thanks for sharing that! Rick
