Help! I cannot find my CPT files

My colleague suggested clearing the cache because I was getting some weird numbering in quiz slides and I already had about 5 captivate files opened at the time I cleared the cache. Now, in the folder I originally had my files , I only have 1 out of 11. When searching for the files in the computer I see it the .cptx files somewhere but they have the explorer “e” icon instead of the captivate icon and I cannot open it. 
please help me!
