I am creating course wherein I need to have a few buttons that are linked/will open respective resource documents (pdf, doc, ppt, etc.). I use the Open URL or file option. However, I noticed the published captivate does not open the file. Please help me linking thse files with the correct file path syntax. Also, I note here that the final package could be placed any not domain system.

If I understand correctly, the resource links will be from another server

In that case, you need to create an absolute link to each resource:

    This example reads:

    Hi there

Is your final Captivate output in SWF format? If so, this likely will not work until you make some adjustments to your flash player.

Click here for more on that

Once you copy the Captivate output and the associated files to a Web Server and test from there, it should work fine.

    Cheers... Rick

Thanks Rick. I would rather want to have the course in one folder and the folder can be sent to the participants.

Help me writing the correct syntax for the file path and name.

If by "have the course in one folder and the folder can be sent to the participants" you mean that you were intending to have the participants copy files to their own hard drive and view them from there, Rick's statements about Flash Global Security needing to be configured are correct.  Your end users would encounter lots of problems with links not working.

But most end users are not going to be willing (or sometimes able) to perform Flash Global Security configuration for themselves.  In some corporate IT environments only Administrators can do this.

The far better option is to have your content accessed from a web server.  Then Flash Global Security is a non-issue.

Why do you want to send folders or files to your target audience rather than just provide them with a working web link?
