I need help to publish my Captivate project to my website. I went to publish, put in my website as the server, directed it to the page I want it on and then put in my user name and password for my website. I then hit test settings and it gives me a socket error. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong. Should I have a different server name than my website address?

Thanks,

Lisa W

    I was able to get it on ther using what you mentioned. I just need to work out some tweaks in captivate an reload it to make the timing of my slides work best.

    I loaded all four files and then put a link to the swf file on my page.

    Thanks so much for your help. :)

    Hi Lisa

    Hopefully you managed to sort this and are happy. But I continued to play with it to see if I could coax the Captivate output into an existing page. If you want those details, post back and I'll be happy to post what I did. Otherwise, if you are happy with the way things are, we will consider it good and stop here.

    Cheers... Rick

    I would like to get the newest info you came up with so I can have some different options.

    Thanks,

    Ok. I do have those files. I will try this an let you know if it works. If so, I will definitely owe you a virtual beer.

    I'm trying to figure out to get the HTML code off the document. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Hi again

    Okay, here is what I've found so far with weebly.

    You need to create a page that doesn't show in your navigation. Edit that page and click the Multimedia category. Then drag the File gizmo into the page. You need to do this several times so you end up with a File gizmo for each of your Captivate output files. There are probably four or more files. Then upload the different files. The basic set is normally:

    * standard.js
    * MovieName.SWF
    * MovieName_skin.SWF
    * MovieName.htm

    Get all those files on the page. Then you edit a different page and create a hyperlink to the MovieName.HTM page.

    So now you owe ma virtual beer for sorting that. LOL

    I've not yet sorted exactly how to coax a Captivate output to simply appear on a weebly page.

    LOL!! :) It does sound like that.

    All I have to do to load an image is choose from diffferent boxes at the top of my edit page such as add text, add photo, add custom HTML, add file and so on. I just drag the box where I want it to appear on the page, then click on it and it brings up my documents to browse and upload.

    I tried adding the file, but without captivate no one else can view it and I want it to appear just as it does when you preview it (hit pause and play and so on)

    Thanks,

    Lisa

    Hi again Lisa

    Okay, so here is probably how you do it. You would upload the files somehow (probably using the file gizmo). Then you would probably examine the HTML code of the associated HTML page Captivate created for you. Copy the HTML code and use that in the gizmo that allows you to enter your own HTML.

    I'd give that a go and see how it works.

    My website is hosted through weebly. I just upload images and write in content. It is all layed out for me. I did not write my own HTML. I just want to get my captivate project loaded onto my site.

    If there is some other way to do this. let me know.

    Otherwise the only other things I have uploaded to my site are my images.

    I am a graphic designer, but I think I should learn more about building my own website. :)

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi again Lisa

    I've never heard of weebly. But that doesn't really mean much. There is gobs of stuff I've never heard of!

    So, how do you upload your images? Perhaps if you can tell us that, we might better know what to advise.

    Off to google weebly now. (I can't help but smile and think how that sounds like some odd English expression)

    Welcome to our community, Lisa

    As you are saying you have a web site, would I be correct in assuming that you have published other types of content? Web pages and the like?

    If so, how did you publish those? I would think the same settings you used for those would apply to Captivate as well.

    Cheers... Rick
