Please Help!!!
Time is so short and I'm under a deadline (1300 Friday).
I have a project that has buttons linking to other projects. I have published the linked projects in HTML prior to publishing the root project.
The project is to be 'portable', on a CD.
None of the linked projects display when their respective button is clicked in the root project, whether in Preview or in Executable.
I have published all projects, the root and branched, in SWF, with the HTML option selected.
When clicking the link button in the root project, IE attempts to locate the linked file on the web, and not from the common CD.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Best to all,
Mike
Please help me to understand how to make the linked files display!
Sadly, it appears that Cap 2 does not allow the author to create 'relative links.'

If a Captivate-generated executable isn't an option, you might want to look into a commercial product that creates executables from Flash-based files.

Multidmedia Zinc ( http://www.multidmedia.com/) seems to be fairly well regarded and I'm sure there are other programs you can try. If you're desperate, download the free trial and see if it works for you.

Hi everyone, I'm having the same problem now and any fix would be greatly appreciated. I'm running the project as an exe file and I'm sorry to say I need to keep it this way.

So everything works fine (well somewhat - loading issues) but when you click on a link that is suppose to launch a pdf file, the program automatically places http:// in front of the launch. For example if there is a pdf called testme.pdf and it's placed in a folder called documents, when i click the button I get it launched as http://documents/testme.pdf

Because of the http:// it's calling a browser, and I can't have this as it's being delivered on CD to people who (believe it or not) may not have browser or flash capabilities. (I can provide them with a free pdf reader of course)

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Mike, I have had no problems creating relative links - I've ust used standard conventions.

Describe your buttons, and all settings. Also, describe your file structure for your complete project.
UPDATE - well, I re-read your post, and tried it as an executable and replicated the behavior you are describing. Odd.

Here is a suggestion - don't run it as a stand-alone executable. Instead publish your main project with associated HTML and setup the CD to autoplay that html file. That should take care of your problem.
