Hide smart shape button on master slide

Greetings all,

Seems like I have another nag issue...I have a project (Captivate 6) that contains FOOTER navigation which I used Smart Shape buttons...the problem is, I have a few slides with popups...and the buttons are still LIVE underneath the popup. And because I can't name a Smart Shape button on a master slide, I don't know how to identify it with an Advanced Action...

I know I can go the L-O-O-O-O-O-N-G way by using a different Master and duplicate the navigation on the slide which will give me the ability to name the Smart Shape buttons...then I can HIDE/SHOW them...but the project has 4-8 popups which would be a lot of buttons...

So, is there a way to hide/show buttons created on a master slide?

Thanks!

Correct answer Lilybiri

Not possible: objects on master slides do not get an ID, which means they cannot be used in an advanced action (one of my many feature requests since quite a lot of versions).

In such a use case I would not put the shape buttons on the master slide, but on the first slide, and time them for the rest of the project, always on top (if that can be done here?). In that case they'll have a unique ID for the total project. There are some possible issues for shape buttons with a pausing point however. When you use a pausing point for a shape button on the master slide, the pause will always occur at the end of each slide, whatever its duration. That is not the case for shape buttons timed for the rest of the project.

Thanks, Lilybiri...you gave me a solution I should have figured out...again thanks.

Do you know if there's a way to create a hover (mouseover) state for a Smart Shape button? I created some custom buttons but they only seem to work with the BUTTON widget...and the button widget doesn't have a REST OF PROJECT option.

Lilybiri may be asleep at the moment so I will chime in.

If you are using Captivate 9 then Smart Shape buttons now have Object States and one of those is the Rollover State, which you can configure to appear as you would like on mouseover.
