Hiding different objects on different slides with same Advanced Action

I am quite new to Captivate and because of this I am struggling to find the functionality I need. I have a project of say 40 slides. On each slide I have a field guide button on the left side and when it is clicked I have a window scroll from left to right into the main frame of the window.

Also on each slide is an object that will display specific information (usually in the form of text) with back and next buttons attached to it (its actually just a PNG with "Back" and "Next" buttons with click boxes over them).

The problem I am having is when I click the field guide I want that information object to hide. I can easily do this from an advanced action for 1 slide but when I want to use the same advanced action to always hide the information object of the current slide I run into problems. If I was able to name objects the same name this wouldn't be a problem.

The only "quick" solution I have is to have every information object on every slide set to hide when I open the guide and then visible when I close the guide.

Is their a better solution or does this question even make sense?

Thanks in advance

Why do you not time the objects for the rest of the project, always on top? In that case you'll have one ID (I would even recommend a group). BUT: that means that you cannot use click boxes but have to switch to the much more flexible shape buttons.

Apparently you are not familiar with shared actions neither.

I did say I was quite new to captivate

I was under the assumption that shared actions were only useful if you wanted to save your advanced action and use it in a different project. Was this an incorrect assumption?

As for the shape buttons, I am not sure that solves my problem. I had a graphic designer make some graphics that act as information sections along with having a designed Back and Next button built in to the graphic. So the entire graphic isn't a button but a small section does (or at least should) act as a button.

Basically I have this type of functionality - Custom Effects in Advanced Actions Using Captivate 9 - YouTube - on all of my slides. Its a bit more complicated but its the came core function. When I click the "Field Guide" button I want my animation to happen AND hide some things on the slide. Easily done with 1 slide but to have that same advanced interaction persist throughout my entire project hiding different things on given slides is where my problem happens.

You can set fill to 0 alpha and stroke to 0 as well: you have a shapebutton

that can cover part of the graphic.

Shared actions are useful in same project as well.

Why do you post in Advanced forum if you are newbie?
