Question

Hover not working on image button (in other words, no up, over or down)

Hi, I have read the help file and watched several YouTube videos, and I can't seem to get a hover state on an image button. I have searched the forum for "Hover not working on image button," and didn't find a solution to this problem. Here is what I've done.

A) I created three images:

1) Test_Up.png

2) Test_Over.png

3) Test_Down.png

B) I copied them to the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 8 x64\Gallery\Buttons folder while Captivate is closed (version 8.0.1.242).

C) I launched Captivate, inserted a button, changed its type to image, and browsed to the list of buttons and selected "one" of my buttons. The instructions don't say which one of these buttons I should select. Do I select the one that has "up" in the name (the others don't have "over" or "down" in their names. I'm not sure which one is the correct one to select). Anyway, I've tried selecting all three or four buttons and none of them work.

D) I preview the slide every way possible, and I view the published file - none of the buttons change states when the mouse is hovered it or when the button is clicked.

Can someone please help!

You don't tell which version you are using?

I double-checked yesterday, because several users talked about issues with image buttons in CP9. The only issue I did see was that the image is now not visible in the list under the image buttons but the three states worked very well.

You don't need to copy the three images to that Gallery (seems you are still on 32-bit version of CP, so you are using an older version than 9). They have to be in the same folder, nothing more. You can point to the folder with the Browser icon and choose one of the images, it doesn't matter which one. CP detects automatically the two other files. That is my work flow. If you have more than one button (3 images) in that folder, they may be added as well to the list.

    Hi Lilybiri,

    Thanks for your fast response.

After reading your response, I tried using the Change icon (yellow folder icon) to point to the icon image (.png). I wasn't doing it this way before, I was just using the scroll bar right underneath the Change icon (duh - I didn't realize I had to use the folder icon). Anyway, after manually pointing to one of my buttons, it still doesn't work. I'm going to do a screen capture and upload it here.

Also, in my original post (item B above), I listed the version of Captivate that I'm running (version 8.0.1.242), and I am on a 64-bit machine (which I didn't originally include).

    Thanks so much!

    Celeste

Sorry, must have overlooked the version number. Check the file names of your images, to be sure they are identical (no spaces?) except the _up, _over and _down part.
