How Can I Add Two Simple Questions to One Slide?

Hi,

I would like to be able to add two simple questions to one slide, but not sure if (or how) this can be achieved. I've explained this in more details below:

====================================================================================

Scenario

The slide needs to contain two questions:

Question 1: with two checkboxes for the options Yes and No

Question 2: with five checkboxes for the options 1 2 3 4 and 5

A button (e.g. named Submit) would be used to check the users answers by triggering an Advanced Action that checks the radio buttons that have been selected.

====================================================================================

The Checkbox Widget looks like it could work for this scenario, as it allows each value to be assigned with a variable. However, when trying to set up the Advanced Action I couldn't see any of the variables that I named in the Checkbox Widget.

If anyone has done this kind of thing before and can offer some advice on the best way of setting up custom questions, I'd appreciate any help.

For reference, I'm using Captivate 8.

Thanks,

Ross

Correct answer Lilybiri

I have indeed used checkboxes or radiobuttons interactions a lot of times for that kind of slides. That is why I am confused and first want to know if you want one answer to be selected for the second question as well? For the first question it is clear that you need a radiobuttons interaction, I'm not sure if you want to allow more than one choice for the second question. Only when you need to allow more than one choice will you need the checkboxes interaction, in the other scenario the radiobuttons will do the trick. It makes a big difference, because the radiobuttons widget has only one variable associated that will store the chosen item. For the checkboxes widget you need a variable for each choice.

Maybe my blog post could help to clarify, you can also download a descriptive table with all learning interactions for CP8

BTW I moved this thread to the Quizzing subspace.

Hi Lilybiri,

Thanks for the response. In the second question, I also only need one choice to be selected so the radio buttons should work as you mentioned.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion. It is much easier with the radiobuttons interaction because you have only two variables now to deal with in your Advanced action.
