How can I convert .cp projects from Captivate 2 to .cptx projects for Captivate 7? Do I have to use some other version between 2 and 7 to do this?

Hello and welcome to the forum,

You certainly will need to upgrade in steps, I never believe that just opening those projects in CP7 will result in a satisfactory result. But why not try it? If those were simple projects, no animations (because only AS3 is now supported), maybe you'll have at least something to start with?

To my knowledge the answer is YES.

Captivate 2 is very old now.  Most Captivate versions are only capable of upgrading projects from the previous couple of versions at best.  So you may find that Captivate 4 would be able to upgrade your Cp 2 project, but then to get to Captivate 7 you would probably need to upgrade somewhere in between as well (e.g. to Cp5 or 5.5 before 7).

At the end of the day, it may be quicker just to start again after all this time.  Even once you did upgrade, a lot of the components would probably need to be scrapped as Cp2 used only AS2 and all current projects only accept AS3.
