How can I get my Captivate project to maintain aspect ratio?

My Adobe Captivate 9 project is having aspect ratio issues. As the width of the browser window gets smaller, the green blocks in my project start to get further away from each other. I want the green blocks to stay proportional to each other as users use different width browser windows. When the YouTube video hits 30 seconds the blocks realign... that's because it reaches my Captivate width break point of 768 pixels. Great help all! Here's what we did to fix:

We used the suggestion from pbdw1969 to create a new 'standard' project. I copied my responsive slides over to the 'standard' project. Now the project scales and maintains same aspect ratio on all devices. I loved the idea of creating a responsive SCORM package, but turned out it was too much work.

To fix the missing imsmanifest.xml issue I realized I was creating a non-SCORM package in Captivate, by mistake. Once I enabled the SCORM package in Captivate and re-published, it was fixed.

Great insight! Thanks. I created a new standard project (blank project), then copied my responsive slides into the the standard project. When I publish and upload the .zip files to Moodle I get the following errors:

Incorrect file package - missing imsmanifest.xml or AICC structure

Are you sure you turned on LMS reporting for Moodle in the Quiz settings?

Did you use the Zip option in Captivate when publishing or did you just zip the publish folder yourself?

Thanks! I'll use that as a last resort, because that will take a ton of time to complete. So... is there no way to get the project canvas to maintain an overall aspect ratio? i.e. As the canvas width changes the canvas height changes along with the width to maintain the same ratio.

Not with responsive design. Even if you ensure that the aspect ratio is the same on all breakpoints, different devices will have those differences. In fact the point of responsive design is that the aspect ratio will change.

You may wish to consider using a standard project (blank project). When you publish you can select scaling so the project will scale up or down depending on the resolution of the device but the aspect ratio will remain the same.

That might mean just as much work. There is no easy way to convert responsive to standard projects.

Hey Trevor,

I would use (check off) smart positioning within the position panel for each of these objects. Use the anchors to connect all your objects to one another and then you can set a very precise spacing between each object.
