How can I remove an unwanted, seemingly permanent button from my quiz results page that only appears in publish mode?

When I publish my project, on the quiz results page at the end there is a "continue" button. It does not appear in my project in edit, play or preview modes. I wouldn't mind it so much and might be willing to ignore it, except that it is off-center, oversized and distorted (so it looks unprofessional). I can't find any obvious culprits in the properties or quiz properties settings. Would anyone have any ideas as to how this button came to appear in publish mode and, more importantly, how to get rid of it?

I was checking in Preview mode, and I forgot the quiz results slide might look different in Publish mode. I see that you are right - I could NOT cover up the continue button after all. It still is not working, however, so I simply dragged it off the slide to keep it from view (Windscorpion's original solution, I noticed). Also, I have now made sure that there is one more slide following the results slide. Clicking on the "Forward" button in the navigation bar will take the user from the quiz results slide to the final slide. (I did check the pause function as you suggested - it wasn't a problem.)

I guess the real mystery is, as you indicate, why the Continue button won't work. To be honest, it COULD be because I deleted one or more embedded objects a couple of months ago when I was setting up this project. It is my first Cp project, and I knew even less about what I was doing then than I do now. I do not specifically remember deleting embedded objects, but I could easily have done so. One thing I am learning through the forum is to NEVER delete embedded objects! In any case, the published form of this particular project seems ready, so I have submitted it to our LMS platform and eagerly await news on any further issues.

I hope it works, but when you reread the thread, you'll see that I would never drag that button off the score slide because of its importance! You can make it invisible on the slide by changing its fill and stroke. And make it very tiny.

Dear all: Problem solved. In edit mode, I moved the cursor around on my results page (in the approximate area where the button appears in publish mode) until it turned into a pointing hand. Even though it was not pointing at anything visible, the hand generated a hover pop-up called "continue button," indicating the button was underneath the topmost layer on the slide. I did a right-click, Arrange, Bring to Front, and brought it to the top so that it was visible. From there, I was able to tweak its appearance.

    Thanks all for your responses.

Sorry, I didn't see that. It is a bit strange, because all embedded objects on question/score slides have normally top priority and are on top of the stack. What did you change on the master slide? Or do you have objects timed for the rest of the project that are always on top? Be careful, such events are always making me anxious because I fear future corruption.

I don't think I changed anything on the master, but I do have a consistent shape on every slide that appears for its duration, and this was on top of the "continue" button on the results slide. I cannot even remember whether I did this intentionally, but  if stacking shapes on top of embedded objects puts my projects at risk for corruption, I will definitely abandon the practice in future projects.

Can you drag it off the page?

Yes that seemed to work for me, the button is to allow navigation off the results page though so you'll have to keep something in You can style and improve the look of the button.

That button Continue is pretty essential: only when it is clicked the actions specified in Quiz Preferences for Succes/Failure will be executed. And that is not only navigation, sorry.
