How can I replace (captivatedev) Widget functionality for HTML5/Accessbility?

I have been using several widgets (Google LMS, etc.) in my projects for several years.  I am now being asked to recreate my training modules to be Accessible using HTML5.  Problem is, widgets don't work for HTML5.  Can anyone give me direction on how to go about replacing some of this functionality (such as reporting completion of a module via email and reporting user info) using Javascript, localStore or any other techniques?
