Question

How can I save a Captivate 10 project as a pdf as well as a PowerPoint

I have a Captivate 10 project which is needed by others in my company as a PDF. Is is possible to do a "save as" type of action?

Another group needs the same captivate 10 project as a template so we can create a Spanish language version of the same project which is created using Broadcat. How do I convert the project without degrading the images, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

For your first question: if you want a printed output of the slides, a handout, you can use File, Print and will end up with a Word document which you can convert to a pdf. It is not a 'save as' action because printed documents (and pdf) are losing of course all interactivity and timing? You could publish as an interactive pdf, but that means that those who want to view it need to install Adobe Reader with the Flash Player plugin because such a pdf is Flash-based.

You can save a file as a template, but there are serious issues with templates (cptl-files). Why not just save the cptx, eventually after some editing and locking to be used for a future project under another name? Design consistency can be perfectly achieved with a custom theme.

Thank you, Lilibiri, for your reply. The first issue was resolved fairly easily since only one person needed to use the doc as a resource for a Q&A series and did not have to share it with anyone. Again, since we used Broadcat to create the module and most of its products use portrait and not landscape format, the quality of the version I saved for this use was not optimal. But it worked.

For the template scenario, the others who will translate the module into Spanish don't have access to Captivate so it would need to be in another format. Plus, for future reference, having this annual training in a usable template by others would be helpful. Otherwise, the only option would seem to be my working in tandem with the translator withe me inputting the data in Spanish. This would be a huge waste of everyone's time and energies something we would like to avoid.

    Thanks again for your suggestions!

What is wrong with the work flow 'File, Export, Project Captions and Closed Captions' either to Word or to XML for translation? Later on you can import them the same way and all text will have been translated.

In the heading of this thread you talk about Powerpoint? Why? If you want a 'template', just do not use the cptl-way because of the problems. Use a cptx-file, where you can lock items, where you can have the custom theme. That is what I tried to explain.
