Question

How do adjust audio post-recording?

Is there a way to adjust or even out audio once it has been recorded. Part of my job is creating tutorial videos. Customers say they look nice but complain about the audio being inconsistent. While viewing they have to adjust the volume.

I've been able to tune it a bit, but the result sound like it was recorded in a tin can .   Please help.

Also, a really good microphone and quiet location really helps as well. Something like what I use would be good.

My advice would be to use Adobe Audition or another audio tool such as Audacity (free) to level out the audio. Most have some sort of leveller. I personally use Audition myself and I typically run my narration through noise reduction, leveller and manually edit out certain items like my breath noises as well. Great tool for this sort of work.

Here is an article from Adobe about matching loudness across multiple files using Audition

Similarly here is a YouTube from DronTutorials on Levelling Audio using Audacity (if you're looking for a free version).
