Question

How do I change press state size?

How do change the size of a Captivate 8 button state to make it smaller when the button is pressed? I am doing an online tutorial with Advanced Actionscript. This tutorial's button has this button down state show the difference in size. I have searched the Properties section and I cannot find how this is done.

Thanks for your help.

You can make the down state much smaller if you use images for the smartshape button. Create the three states in PS and save them as png. Scale the down state but keep the canvas the same size.

David, the shape will still be the same size, even though you fill it with images of different sizes. The look will be OK.

@clwork: could you post a screenshot of both the up and the down state of the 'button' that you want to simulate?

I don't believe I can post a screenshot since this is from a public tutorial website and I am sure the screenshot might violate their terms of use. I did send them a request ticket and hopefully they will get back to me soon. Once they do I will explain how they did it.

Even in Captivate 9 it is not possible to resize a button in a down state. If you use a shape button with same look for the three states, it will shrink a little bit when pressed.

Hi,

These are definite changes in the size of the button. It must be done with some action. When I drag the button on the stage the library it does nothing.

I selected one of the built in buttons from Captivate 8 and tried the various styles. However, done of the replicate the same downstate size I see in this tutorial.

Someone probably made custom buttons. Captivates buttons are made from three images in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 8 x64\Gallery\Buttons folder.

They have a _up, _down and _over state graphic for each button. You would need to create the graphics for whatever type of button you choose, smartshape or standard if you want the down state to be much smaller.
