Question

How do I create an interactive user handbook with a search engine

Good day

No idea if this is the right forum to ask this query.

I'm exploring opportunity of using Captivate to create a user handbook that has >100 pages that will act as a FAQ for my end users. To make it simple for them to access the handbook, I would like to incorporate a search engine using key words that will return results as requested. Does any one have any clue on how I can go about developing this type of content?

Thanks in advance.

AJ

If you're still investigating, you may want to consider publishing an interactive PDF from Captivate.

You can build a Cp project, with interactivity, that will playback within Acrobat reader + Flash on a users PC. It's not mobile friendly, though.

Also, you can develop word templates and Print to a word file, then generate the index, Table of Contents, and formatting in Word, and output as a PDF.

These two files could be combined, allowing the users to search for content, explore help materials, and interact with training content in the same file.

    Hi there

I might suggest investigating Adobe RoboHelp for this purpose.

Hmmm, I am a great fan of Captivate but would not use it for what you describe. It has built-in search functionality in the TOC, but I don't know if this will be suffiient.

Thanks for the feedback. By any chance are there any tutorials around what was mentioned available online that I can preview to see if it is what I'm looking for?
