Question

How do I locate SCORM ID

Hi all,

I am having issues with replacing existing SCORM project on to Moodle developed using Captivate 9. I keep having the 'SCORM ID has changed error' every time I try to change the project.

I have looked at the imsmanifest xml file from the old project and compared it to the one from the new project. Everything is the same but it is still complaining about the difference in the SCORM IDs. I'm beginning to wonder if the SCORM ID is located somewhere else other than in the manifest file.

I would greatly appreciate if someone can point me to where the SCORM ID is or alternatively a workaround which would allow me to maintain the same SCORM ID. Apparently every time you publish a project in Captivate, a new SCORM ID is generated which is causing issues with Moodle.

The elearning has been published and zipped using Captivate 9.

Many thanks for your help.

Thank you guys for your responses.

I managed to get the problem solved by our Moodle Suppliers. Unfortunately they did not disclose the solution to me other than that there was a bug on their Moodle server which was causing problems.

I can now update my courses without loosing any previous attempts.

Try look under --> File --> Project Info

    Then select Quiz Reporting

    Scormid01

Then select Check Scorm ID here.

    Scormid02

    Hopes this helps.

Thanks Warmstrong for a prompt response. I have looked at the Reporting settings as per your advice and compared the values in my 2 projects. They both have identical values. I would have thought the settings in the Manifest tab are the ones that drive the contents of the Manifest xml file.

That was the original intent of the SCORM standard, but you find that some LMSs just pretty much over-ride the manifest and give the course and SCOs arbitrary IDs assigned by the LMS itself.  I'm not sure if this is because the LMS designers felt this was a better idea because then the LMS could guarantee there would be no ID conflicts.

Try this website and see if it might help: SCORM - Moodle and SCORM Cloud: Adding Content » SCORM -

I think your issue is with a Moodle DB table and not necessarily a Captivate issue.

Many thanks for your quick response. I think you are correct in saying this issue might be Moodle related. I will look at how Moodle saves the elearning in the database.

    Thanks
