Question

How do I remove a 'background' graphic from a template?

This may seem like a really novice question (I'm embarrassed to ask).

I placed a 'background' graphic into my template by some unknown means. Now I wish to delete it and I haven't a clue how to remove it.

- It's not a background graphic because selecting 'Blank' for 'Change Background Image' has no effect. And changing the background image to some other graphic does work.

- It doesn't seem to be an inserted graphic because Ctrl-A (select all) selects every graphic element EXCEPT this 'background' graphic.

I attached a graphic illustrating this issue. See number 1 for the problem graphic.

For a bonus question:

For about 30 % of my training material, I want to use Forward and Backwards buttons (#2). How do I remove the time slider (#3) on all but the 'movie' portions of my training. I suspect this isn't possible, due to the nature of how Flash works. I guess I am thinking too much about how Lectora and RWD uPerform work.

Thanks for you assistance!

Please, can you mention the version of CP you are using?

Can you find the background in the library: right click on the slide and choose 'Find background in library'? Then you could simply delete it or you can edit it with a choosen program. If it is not a background, but an image you can choose the same technique: find it in the library (probably in the folder 'Images').

Second question: there are certainly other methods, but I'm using this one (in CP4):

  • create my own Next and Back buttons for use on non-movie slides; you can copy them quickly to all the other non-movie slides when created
  • for those non-movie slides, in the Properties/Navigation for "On Slide Enter" I assign the value 0 to the system variable CpCmndShowPlaybar
  • create an advanced action, to be used for "On Slide Exit" in the same Properties/Navigation for the non-movie slides: this advanced action assigns the value 1 to the system variable CpCmndShowPlaybar and the standard action 'Go to Next Slide'.

I'm just hoping you use CP4

Thank you,

You set me in the right direction and I 'discovered' the Library (Ctrl-Alt-L).

It is inserted as a background. When I attempted to delete it, I get the message, "Cannot delete item.... The item (or one of it's subitems) is being used by the following locked (or hidden) objects: ...."

I didn't know I had any locked objects... strange. I cannot find any.

As an alternative, I edited the graphic so that is just as acceptable until I can figure out why a bunch of objects are locked.

Thank you again!
