Question

How do I share an Adobe Captivate 6 project for SME review?

Traditionally I have shared the .swf file for SME review of my Captivate courses, but I've found that the .swf file doesn't always behave properly. Various interactions, slide transitions, and video don't play accurately when the SMEs are reviewing the file. I'm thinking that I'm sharing the wrong file.

I've researched the collaborate - shared review function in Captivate, but I'm hesitant to use this for two reasons. I'm an external contractor, so I can't place the content on an internal server. I also don't want to require SMEs to create a login and password to adobe to access the course via adobe's server. They just wouldn't do it. They would just be creating a login to review my course and would probably never use it again. As a consultant, I don't want to require my clients to go through this step just to review the course. Also, the company's IT department won't allow people to install software on their computers, so they would never be allowed to install the Adobe AIR application.

What do you guys typically do to share a Captivate project for someone who doesn't have Captivate? I'm a consultant and want to do the most professional review possible. Since sharing the .swf file seems to cause the project to not perform accurately, I'm thinking that I'm sharing the wrong thing.

What are my options?

Please help!

Thanks,

Kristine

Well, in this case, you can try publishing a PDF output and share it with them. All the interactivities and animations play on standard Acrobat reader 9 and above versions. However, if they have the verion 11 (or XI as Adobe calls it), they will need to install Flash Player separately from here:

Having said that, I must admit the best way to get the comments is through Captivate reviewer.

I recommend you upload the content (HTM/SWF/JS) to a web server and send your coworkers the HTTP link to the HTM file that Captivate creates.  Then they will see it exactly as the end users will.  I have found that PDFs often don't play as smoothly as the HTM/SWF version of the same project.
