Question

How many videos can be embedded?

I recently created a module that contains two embedded videos. When I play the module, however, neither of the videos show up on the slides. You see the slides for the given slide time, but no videos. The module appeared to have played previously with one slide. I was wondering if there was a limit to the number of videos you could put in a Captivate 8 module. Any idea?

Thanks,

Darin

Hi Darin,

Short answer, is as many as you want.

Longer answer requires more information. When you say "embed" do you mean actually using the "embed" option in the web object or did you use the "import event video" option?  If you embedded a video are you publishing the course to a web server to view it and its not showing up?

Cheers,

Steve

Steve is correct that you should ideally be publishing/uploading to a web server (or LMS) and testing from there, so that you can rule out issues with browser security or Flash Global Security being responsible.

If the videos still don't play from the web server, check with the server administrator to ensure that the MP4 mimetype is allowed on the server.  Sometimes that's why the videos don't appear.

RodWard,

We did put the SWF module with the MP4 videos into the LMS and it appeared to play with the videos. I think as a rule, as I mentioned to  Steve, I will make sure and keep the MP4 videos with the HTML modules and the SWF videos with the SWF modules. That way they will play correctly wherever I play them.

Thanks,

Darin
