How much content/activity on a slide?

Hello! There is so much information on this site for specific actions and problems, but I'm looking for more basic, general information and guidance about designing a learning module.  What are the best practices when using Captivate for how much content should actually go on a slide and why?  I am coming from the world of ILT and PowerPoint and use the guidance of 'less is more'.   I see that 'interactions' have a lot of content on one slide.  Why put it all on one slide and not on multiple slides?  Why not use branching for these?

Some general info:  I'm using Captivate 9/demoing Captivate 2017 and am a new user.  Our training is geared to have a strong auditory component so there is a lot of voice over, including on quiz slides.  We will have screen capture for future modules, but for now there isn't much of that.
