Question

How to apply effect to one object after another is clicked..

Hello,

I have a smart shape button.  Advanced action on success.  The advanced action is : 1 show another smart shape.  2. apply effect to this smart shape.

It doesnt work.

I dont want to put the effects on the time line because the time line is typically at the end when the user clicks on the button, so I thought advanced actions would be my only hope.  Also, under "animation trigger", there is no "click event of a different object."

Any Ideas?

Any Lieve blog posts I can read? ; )

How did you test? All functionality, especially for HTML output will only be visible after publishing and uploading to a LMS or webserver.

BTW, wished I had more time to blog about Captivate's many features that are not (always?) well documented.

There is no need to upload HTML output to webserver or LMS in order to test the content behavior in Captivate project. Captivate provides you HTML webserver environment while previewing it from "Preview>HTML5 in Browser". SWF can be tested from "Preview>In Browser" in the same way.

Both of the above previewing option creates virtual environment on your computer same as a webserver and there is no need to test it on webserver until, you want to test any specific functionality.

Sorry, Ashish, both Rod and me have experienced that just previewing HTML in Browser will not always give the full functionality of a course. Why should that be?  A responsive course preview with Edge Inspect on a device seems to work better in most cases.

Hi Ryan,

I tried the same workflow you have described and it worked fine. Check the actions I have used:

Can you show me your actions?

Hi Ashish,

Actually, the only problem was that I could not see the effects in "Preview".  Once I published the project, I could see the effects.

Thank you!

I didn't notice any issue with preview. Please make sure you have latest version of Captivate installed. You can always check for updates under Help>Updates.

Glad to hear that issue was resolved after publish.
