How to change the color and border of a smart object

Okay so this seems like a really dumb question... and the answer seems obvious... go to the properties pane when the object is selected. But for the life of me i'm trying to work out why the options arent there. Usually the options are sitting above the characters list. How do I get it back? What am i doing wrong? Trying to think intuitively here, or perhaps non-intuitively to see any adobe logic here.

I know sometimes part of the Properties panel disappear (bug), mostly it is solved by either:

  • resetting the workspace
  • restarting Captivate
  • restarting the system
  • cleaning the Preferences

But in your screenshot I see the option Style for the Stroke, and the Opacity for the Fill so you didn't lose those options. Can you explain?

I managed to fix this by contacting adobe support.

The best way to do it is to clear the cache as Chris mentioned by going to the utils folder where captivate is installed and running the CleanPreferencesWin.bat. This opens up the terminal, and clears the preferences in the process. I have no idea how this happened, as there seemed to be no way inside captivate itself to restore the preferences. Something they should definitely take a look at.

For anyone that finds this thread down the road, I have a video demonstrating how to clear the preferences.

I've had this too - a bug I think.

I restart and clear the cache and it usually sorts it out.

The screenshot is showing a fully functional Properties panel which leaves me totally puzzled.
