Hi, I just upgraded my workflow from CP7 to CP8. Is there a way to convert existing CP7 projects to responsive project file inside CP8? Or is it possible manually only?

I watched a set of perfect official tutorials about CP8 on Youtube channel from Allen and Pooja production, but about my question I am not sure, it can be realize by converting or starting manually.

best regards

Yarik

Work flow is totally different, you cannot expect an easy conversion, agree with that.

Not everything is functional (yet) in Responsive design: no line shape, no polygon shape, no drag&drop to mention some.

Want to point out that you can use the library of any other project as an external library, maybe could help to save time for assets?

Thanks for all responses. I think the best maybe start new responsive project and copy existing assets from older project version. I have perpetual licensed CP 7 and 8, so can be installed both.

    Hi Verlik,

The best practice would be creating  a New Responsive project from scratch.

If you want to view your Cp 7 existing project in Cp 8 as a Responsive project , you need to set the Primary view break point First.(Its 1024*627 by default). The primary view break point here should be same as the Size of the Exisiting Cp7 project.

Open the Cp7 project in Cp 8 and Copy all the slides.

Paste them inside a responsive project.

Next you need to slightly modify the objects in Tablet and Mobile View as u want them to appear in tablet and mobile devices.

    It should be done manually.

Let me know if this works for you

    Thanks

I have this same concern. I couldn't find anything in the 484-page manual about this. I tried your solution Devraj but it required a lot of manually work. I can only surmise at this point that it's best to create all new eLearning projects in responsive mode. Plus, there will be a huge demand (and work load) to convert fixed-dimension projects into responsive.

In my (short) experience a lot of manual work is necessary if you want to convert an existing Captivate 7 project to a responsive Captivate 8 project.

It is possible to start a new responsive project in Cap8 and to copy/paste slides and master slides from Cap7, but in my case it turns out that many objects that look nice on Primary and Tablet format, are not positioned well on Mobile format.

Something else that I found out is that some Closed Captions that fit nicely on the first two formats are too long to fit the Mobile size.

It takes a lot of work to convert, but the result is that your courses are ready for a much bigger audience.
