How to create Moodle certificate from Captivate assessment score

Hi there

Sorry if there is a post already existing on this, but I've looked and can't find it.

I have been creating courses with Captivate 6 and generating a certificate within Captivate.  We are moving over to Totara (based on Moodle) next week and my manager wants all certificates to be generated from within Totara.

Can you tell me how I pass the assessment score from the Captivate module to the LMS please?  Which variables are used and interpreted etc.

The courses will be hosted on the LMS, I just don't understand how the passing of information works yet.

Cheers in advance

Julie

Hi Julie - the certificate module in Moodle/Totara can look at the course grade or an individual SCORM's grade - as long as your SCORM is returning a grade back to Moodle then using the certificate module should be pretty straightforward. You should be able to ask your Totara provider for more information on this - afaik as part of your totara subscription you will get access to a Totara specific discussion forum which you can also use to ask for further help.

    Hi Dan

Thanks for your reponse, do you know which variable Totara receives from Captivate?

    Cheers

The Certificate module can look the SCORM grade or the course grade.

The SCORM grade in Moodle is dependant on the grading settings in Moodle - see here for info on how Moodle creates a grade based on your SCORM package:

    http://docs.moodle.org/en/SCORM_FAQ#SCORM_and_the_Gradebook

The course grade is an aggregate/average of all the grades from different activities in a course.

It will probably be much more obvious when you actually get the site running with the certificate module.
