How to exit an exe file

Hi,

I'm trying to publish my project as an 'Executable'. However when I run the .exe file the 'Finish' button on the very last slide doesn't work.....the slide just keeps running and I have to use Ctrl + alt + delete to start the task manager to close the exe (as the playbar is hidden).

  • Originally I had set the 'On Success' of the button to 'Exit'. This didn't work so

  • I set the advanced action to 'assign' the variable 'cpCmndExit' with '1' (I couldn't find the 'rdcmndexit' variable). This didn't work either.

How can I get the .exe to close using Captivate 8?

Cheers,

Kevin

First, try setting the overall project properties...

Preferences > Project > Start and End

Toward bottom of those properties, see "Project End Options"

Should be able to select 'Close Project'.

Now that only helps at the end of the project...the larger problem is how to quit in the middle...yes?

What you're doing should work, I think (I rarely ever make CP .exe files). But if not...

    Try ctrl-q

    That might work...

If not, alt-f4 should do it.

If either do, put those instructions at the bottom of the screen, or on last screen...

    Hi there

If Erik's solution of closing the project at the end works, you could easily create a button that would close the project. Just make the very last slide of the project extremely short. Perhaps .1 seconds. Then configure the button (or click box or any other clickable object) so its function is to jump to the last slide.

    Cheers... Rick
