How to extract the captivate file for editing from a .zip file

I'm a new user of Adobe Captivate. I have an Adobe Captivate 6 license. I've been asked to make edits to an existing Adobe Captivate project. The project was sent to me as a zipped file. When I extract the folders contents, which component of the file would I need to perform the edits? When I attempt to open any of the files components in Captivate, none of them seem appropriate for the application.

I'm not sure at all what they send you: if it is a zipped file with published content, you cannot edit it at all, you need the original cptx-file. Can you post a screenshot of the content of the zipped file? Then I'll be able to tell you if this is a published version.

However, even a cptx-file is in reality a zipped folder. And it happens that when I send a cptx-file to someone that the OS will identify it as a zipped file, and even change its extension from cptx to zip. If that should be the case, you have to change the extension back to cptx and check if you can open the file in Captivate. You have to be aware that you'll only be able to open a version 6 file or a former file (5 or 5.5).

Thank you for replying so quickly. What was sent to me was the zipped file with the published content, so when I performed my extract of the .zip file, it explains why there is no .cptx file to edit. I'll have to go back to my source for the original .cptx file.
