How to insert video in .cptx

I'm sorry but even there are a lot of descriptions telling how to do, I am totally struggling in my project (.cptx using Captivate 9).
I have a front page with buttons, linking to other pages in the project where I have  inserted mp4-videos from our server as event-videos.
When I preview the project I can open the videos without any problem, but after publishing I just get a grey screen like this, with a grey progress bar in the top:

Slet

I have tried using mp4, flv and f4v formats, but the same result.

What I'm trying to make is a group of instruction videos, which together shows a complete installation of a unit. For this I need a front page with buttons that links to the videos, videos with play bars and automatic return to front page after a video.
Actually it seems like there is an issue in getting the play-bar...?

I would prefer to upload it all to our own server, but will it be better using Vimeo or YouTube?

Please, someone...: Is my project totally out of reach, or is it possible somehow to make this work?

Correct answer Lilybiri

Try converting those videos to MP4 using the Adobe Media Encoder (an old version CS6 is included with Captivate).

MP4 is the correct format when you want HTML output. FLV is only appropriate for SWF output. Anyway Captivate takes care of converting.

How did you point to the videos when inserting? Do you publish to HTML or to SWF? It looks like they cannot be found, which could be another reason for your problems.

Event videos play totally independent from Captivate's controls, that is the reason for the dedicated control panel which evey event video gets. That control panel appears in your screenshot, did you try clicking the play button?

Thank you very much for your quick reply, Lilybiri.

Actually, and quite embarrassing!, it would have been enough asking "Do you publish to HTML or to SWF?"...
I simply did not check the "HTML" button when publishing.

Now it works, and I can add play bars and other stuff just like i want.
Thank you again!
