How to move Typing or Mouse to new slide

I recorded a Captivate 4 demo and then realized that I need to move some of the Mouse and Typing objects from one slide to another slide. I can cut-and-paste captions, but I can’t figure out how to do the same with Mouse and Typing objects. Any suggestions?

If that's not possible, is it possible to merge two slides into one slide?

As I said earlier, the Mouse Movements are not a layer you may freely move. The mouse is simply an attribute of the slide. So all you can do with it is to enable it or disable it and control the ending point. Sorry.

As for the typing text, it too cannot be moved. Indeed it is a layer on the slide, but it's sort of "baked in" and as such, cannot be moved. You are able to convert it to a Typing Text animation, but I believe all that really does is remove the layer and present the Typing Text Animation dialog where you again have to type in what was there. If memory serves, it doesn't preserve what was typed. But I could be wrong about that. I suppose if it does actually convert the text, you could then copy the Animation from this slide and place it on another.

A thought occurs here. You might try simply replacing the background image of the slide where you want to transfer these objects. By having a different background image used, you will have sort of achieved the same goal, no?

I have achieved "moving" the typing in two ways:

1) If the typing is laid out the same on both slides, "Copy Background" on the desired slided, and "Past as Background" on the slide with the typing

2) Use the "Replace with Animation" function in Captivate 5. Then I have to tweak the font, font size, animation timing, and placement of the animation object. A pain, but I can get it to mostly work good enough. Option 1 is preferred.

"Replace with Animation" is the only solution I've found, short of re-recording, if I need to change the text of what was typed.

As for moving the mouse, just move the end point where you want it on the slide.

The mouse is simply an attribute of any slide. So if you need mouse movement, enable the mouse on the slide and adjust the ending position. (Note that the start position is always determined by where it STOPPED on the slide before).

Just right-click the slide in the Film Strip and point at the mouse option.

As for the typing, you should consider inserting a Text Animation. Specifically, the Typing Text animation.

Thanks for your reply, Rick. But what I need to do is move existing Typing and Mouse objects from one slide to another. Captivate's demo recording feature already created them. Now, to fine-tune the demo I need to move them to different slides. Is that possible?
