How to prevent rewind of FLV files in Captivate?

A coleague and I are creating an e-Learning web site, using Captivate 6. Each screen (slide) has an FLV playing. We want the FLV to stop on the last frame of the movie. It keeps automatically rewinding, despite the "don't rewind" checkbox in Captivate being OFF.

The FLVs have standard metadata (duration, width, etc).

How can we prevent auto-rewind?

When we publish to HTML5, the movies correctly stop on the last frame.

Any advice gratefully received.

    Shekhar,

My colleague tried what you suggested. Here's his reply:

"I can implement it using that method but then the video gets embedded in the Captivate SWF file and there is no VCR control bar."

Some of the videos are quite long, so we want a VCR control bar, so the user can pause the video. Is there a way to have the last frame freeze AND have a controller which becomes visible when the user rolls his mouse pointer over it?

    regards

    David

    Hi there,

In order to have a control bar on the Multi-Slide Video, you can have a playbar widget on the slide. There are number of playbar widgets available. There is one playbar widget in Captivate 6 as well.

Go to Window > Widget and in the widget window look for PlayBar.swf. You can use that playbar to accomplish your goal.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

Thanks for reaching Adobe Community Support. Please accept my sincere apologies for the hassle.

Could you please elaborate a little more about what exactly is happening?

Is the FLV video rewindes and stops on the starting frame?

You also mentioned that it works fine when publishing as HTML 5. Is it only happening in SWF mode?

Also I would request you to please try adding the FLV videos on a new blank project as well.

    Thanks!

    Shekhar,

Thanks for your reply. Answers as follows:

    1. The FLV begins playing automatically, as it is intended to do.

    2. When the FLV reaches the last frame, it automatically rewinds to the first frame and stops there.

    3. We want it to stop on the last frame, as the information on the last frame needs to be reviewed by the trainee who is using the e-Learning site we are creating.

    4. In a normal Flash player, you can prevent the autorewinding by setting the "autorewind" parameter to False. We cannot see how to do the EQUIVALENT using Captivate. This is what we need explained.

    5.  The problem of autorewind only exists in the swf mode; the HTML version does not autorewind.

    6. My colleague is the one doing the Captivate programming and he is tied up with deadlines on our project, so we can't set up and send a demo file to you.

    7. I don't understand why this difficulty exists: we are not trying to do something unreasonable. Surely someone, somewhere has already wanted to freeze the last frame? What we want to do is smple. The question is clear enough. Anyone who is an expert in Captivate will have seen this quesiton before.

    Hi there,

Well it seems from what you have posted that you are using an Event Video.

The event video will come and stop at starting frame. Could you please try and use the Multi-Slide Synchronized Video?

The Multi Slide video pauses on the very last frame of the video, hence showing what is at the end of the video.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks!
