How to prevent stop video acquisition on software simulation mode

Hi all,

i'm recording a video of my software, a non-interactive tutorial ( software simulation mode and Recording mode: demonstration).

My software has a debug window showing values that change frequently.

In my video i would like to record this debug window and do some action on it ( this window has a toolbar ).

Captivate correctly register the mouse pointer but when i , ex. click on a toolbar button, Captivate adds a text caption (correctly) but the video stops ( the values on my watch freeze).

How can i prevent this behaviour?

thank you in advance

You can perfectly add static images in a video demo as well. Have a look at this (old) example which was made using only the video demo:

Simple versus Standard Advanced Action in Adobe Captivate - YouTube

I will often replace the 'old' FMR slides, which are not always displaying well in HTML output by CPVC slides (short video slides). I stop the software recording, in the cptx project choose the Big Button 'Slides' to insert a Video Demo slide, the recorder will open and I record the CPVC slide. When finished, you can insert with the same button Software Simulation slides etc. Advantage: you can open the dedicated Video Demo Editor from each CPVC slide. Panning/zooming have a much better quality than you can realize with the software sim work flow.

Totally agree with Rod: use a cpvc (Video Demo) file instead of capturing as Demo in a cptx-file. Only drawback; file size could be larger. You can also choose to make combinations: inserting a recorded cpvc project as a slide in a cptx-project (which you created using your present work flow).

But if i use cpvc (Video Demo) i can not use text captions.

I would like to have my software running continuously while inserting step by step instructions ( textbox etc.).

    Example.

    - I put variable N in my watch ( textbox N variable is now watched )

    - I select N variable in the watch window ( textbox N variable is selected ) but when textbox appears N values stop

    - I put variable Z while N is watch ( textbox N variable is now watched ) but when textbox appears N values stop

What should i do int the above cases combining cptx-project with cpvc ?

    thank

You do the Video Demo capture then add your text captions AFTERWARD.

Capture it as a Video Demo instead.
