Question

How to reorder video recordings in Captivate?

This is for recordings, not slides. Let's say I took a video and added text boxes but then I needed to take another video that needs to go before the initial video. Right now, when I drag the video from the timeline, it is going over the initial video instead of before it. How would I go about doing this?

OR

If I record a new video in a new project and want to include it in my first video project, how can I combine so both videos are in one project?

To answer the question about the video going over the other video just drag it along the timeline and create some space. You can copy and paste the video from one file into the other. Select the video clip on the video timeline, copy then open the other cpvc file and click on the existing video track and paste. It will paste after the clip on the video timeline or at the insertion point being the play head.

Similarily if you have added text captions or images  on top of the video track select them all and copy and paste into the other cpvc video timeline. These will paste into the new track as well at their relative position on  the timeline.

You are talking about Video Demo projects? Maybe the easiest workaround would be to insert each of the cpvc projects as a slide in a cptx project with the same resolution. That can be done with the menu Insert, CPVC slide. Reversing the slides is a breeze. Of course the video demo projects need to have the same resolution. A cptx project can be pulbished to MP4 as well if it is non-responsive.

It is perfectly possible to do this in the video demo editor as well, but not alxays as intuitive. The advantage is that you can have nice transitions between the clips.

I don't see an option for CPVS slide under Insert so I'm not sure how to create slides.

Which version are you using?

I double-checked in CP9 and CPVC and both have that option as did CP8 which I cannot check anymore. It is in a cptx-project as I told before
