Question

HTML5 presentation won't load on iOS

I have several lectures I am trying to publish as HTML5 using Captivate 8. The presentations were originally created as narrated PowerPoints, so I've imported them into Captivate using the New Project from PowerPoint option. Each presentation has a table of contents, audio, and closed captions, but no quizzes or other interactive elements.

I am using Canvas as my LMS. I've published the presentations as HTML5 and uploaded them to Canvas, then linked to the index.html files on the content pages. If I click the links on my desktop (using both Firefox and Chrome), the presentations load just fine and look great.

But if I try to access them on an iPad or iPhone (both using iOS 8.3), they won't open. I'll either get a spinning grey circle or a blank screen. Has anyone had any problems like this before? Does anyone know what might be causing this?

PowerPoint slides often get converted to SWF files in Captivate content, and SWF is not compatible with iPads or iPhone. (Round of applause for Steve...)

You may need to create your lectures in Captivate from the ground up if you REALLY want good support for i devices.

Besides Rod's advice, which I support totally, you'd better start with a responsive project instead of a normal project. You'll see that importing PPT is then simply impossible, another indication that it is not a good way to create a Captivate course at all.
