Question

Hyperlinking to URLs

I'm new to Captivate and have two questions regarding hyperlinking to a URL:

I pulled in a PowerPoint presentation with a hyperlink to a URL and the link does not work in the Captivate file. Should it be working or is this not functionality that Captivate supports?

Is it possible to create a hyperlink to a URL using just Captivate? And, if so, how do I do this?

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide!

I am having issues with a click box not working in the published HTML file. It works in Captivate preview mode, but not when you view it from a browser (both IE and Firefox).

Here are the settings I have:

    Preferences: Start and End:
Project end options: Action: Stop project.
Fade out on last slide deselected.

The Click Box is positioned on top in the timeline; its settings are:
Open URL or file (down arrow option set to New). (full URL entered)
    Continue playing project selected.

Infinite attempts for clicking outside the click box selected.

When I test a different URL (a direct link), it still doesn't work.

I tried to use a button instead of a click box with these same settings and get the same result.

I've read over the posts for others who've experienced similar issues and it seems I have everything set as it should. Any suggestions as to what may be the issue?

    Thanks for any assistance!

    Welcome to our community, Dawn

I'm guessing that you are seeing a common issue. Flash Security Settings.

Thank you so much, once I published it to the server it resolved the issue (should have tried that!).
    I appreciate your help!!!

    Hi ARC_ID

Try using a Click Box object. You may use that to open a URL. When you enter the URL, look immediately to the right of where you type the URL. Click the down arrow and you may choose to open in a new window. Click the down arrow again after choosing new window and you may DE-select the option that continues play of the project.

    Cheers... Rick
