Question

Hyperlinks work in IE & Firefox but not Chrome or Opera

I am testing a Captivate 8 project in four browsers (IE 10, Chrome 44, Firefox 40, and Opera 31).

Everything works great in all 4 browsers except the hyperlinks to external webpages, which load only in IE and Firefox but not in Chrome or Opera.

I've turned off all pop-up blockers and ensured that, in Captivate, links are set to open in new windows. I've also fixed my Adobe global settings to "always allow." The project is not housed in an LMS.

I would appreciate any suggestions you can offer. Thanks!

Hello Kelly,

Welcome to Adobe Forums,

Could you please check the exact version of Captivate you are using (Go to Help >About Adobe Captivate )?

Make sure it should be updated to 8.0.1.242 .

Could you please check the behavior locally as well , means without uploading on LMS ?

Does it behaves the same with one particular project or all of the projects ?

Have you inserted the Action on the button you have applied a hyperlink to the text caption?

If you are using button then try to use smart shape instead and then use it as a button and then apply the action of Open File or url and then check if it is working or not.

Hi Kelly,

Can you tell us which version of captivate you are using?

Also is the project Responsive or Normal project?

Is the hyperlink attached to text caption or to the text inside smart shape ?

Please try to reproduce the issue in a new project.

We could not reproduce the issue in Chrome at our end. Can you please share your project with us so that investigate the issue if the issue is project specific?

Thanks

Thanks for your quick response, Devraj and Himanshu.

I'm running Captivate 8.0.0.145. I am not authorized to make software updates, but I will put in a request with our IT department to update to 8.0.1.242. (It might take awhile.)

The project is not responsive, and this error happens with all projects I make. There is no LMS involved.

When I preview in Adobe or in IE, everything is fine. I cannot preview in the other browsers. I must first publish the project and then move it to my remote desktop, because that's where Chrome, Firefox, etc. are kept because of IT concerns.

The same error happens both with button hyperlinks and with hyperlinks in text captions. I'm starting to wonder if it might have something to do with either our firewall here or with the fact that I'm having to test in a remote desktop environment.

Best,

Kelly
