I can't get Adobe Captivate 9 to print handouts or storyboards

I cannot get adobe captivate 9 to print handouts or storyboards.  I have tried having word open and having it closed.  I've logged in as the Administrator.  I've copied all the slides to blank project and tried this way but no success.  I'm all out of ideas.  I have Word 2013.  Can anyone assist please?

I was having the same problem and here's my outcome.

          a. File 1 requests word access in hidden private folders on the Mac in CP9, 2018, 2019.
After access was granted, it failed to print out.

          b. File 2 requested word access on Mac. Was granted. Printed in 2019 but failed in CP9 and 2018.

          c. Copied File 1 in new project (Mac). Access granted but printing still failed.

          d. File 1 went to print without problems on the Windows version.

I was about to agree totally on incompatibility until events b and c

1. MacOS 10.14/ CP9, 2018, 2019 installed/ Word 16.16.8

2. Windows 7/CP9, 2018, 2019 installed/Word 2013

3. File 1 - created in CP 9 in 2019

4. File 2 - created in CP 9 in 2017

On a separate but related item, what is with this request access? In hidden private folders????

I'm having a similar problem with Cap2017 and printing handouts. I can get a Word printout but it stops including the slide "notes" after about 15 slides. Same project used to print out fine in previous versions of Captivate. Anyone have any workarounds? Thanks!

I have been having the same issue and tried every solution I could find suggested so far, but no luck. Same error message as noted by OP. I have a project with 83 screens. Copying that number of screenshots will take me days.  Unless there is a way to share the status of a SCORM Project with a client, this software has huge limitations. For a video file, I just publish to mp4 and send to client.

MacBook Pro, Captivate 9, Word for Mac V 16.13.1  (all with current updates)

Solutions I tried with no luck:

1. In Adobe Captivate Gallery files>PrintOutput: Copied the file Adobe Captivate.dot and renamed to Handout.doc (since this file was not there)

2. Disabled Endnote to open when Word opens

3. Closed all other applications

3. Did not select Captions to print (since I didn't have any)

4. Selected a local drive (Desktop) for print output rather than a server folder.

5. Print output seems to start, then when it gets to 50% it shuts down and gives error message. I am not a programmer/developer so do not want to be messing with the code to get what should be standard from a very expensive software package.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions!

HI Lily,

Is there anyway to designate another program other than Word as the destination printer, for example a PDF maker? I looked but couldn't find anything.

Cheers

No, many users have already complained about that. Printing needs refurbishing in Captivate.

I have seen that Lily about printing problems. Is there another way I can

publish as a handout?

Thanks

OK, so now we're bug tracking. Lets rule some stuff out. I suspect it is one of two things. There is an issue with your Word or Captivate can't find it, because its been moved since you installed Captivate.

Can you launch Word independently?

If so have you installed new drives or updated your hardware since you could last print?

Cheers

Hi Moirad,

Printing is kinda convoluted in Captivate. I'm assuming when you print you are not seeing what you expect. Make sure to click "print objects and questions" as that will print everything on the slides.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your reply.  When I said print, I actually mean produce handouts or storyboards in Word, not actually print them out.  I go to file - print - select handouts and it gives me the following error message;

adobe captivate 9 - error when converting to handouts

I need handouts to email to a client and I used to have no problem doing this with Adobe Captivate 8.

I wonder if it is a fault with Captivate 9?

I suspect an incompatibility between the version of Office (pretty old) and this version of Captivate. It is not possible for me to verify, reason why I didn't answer to your question. My Office version is 365.
