Help!

I am developing a self-guided Captivate module. I have developed a menu that appears on each page containing "jump to slide" buttons so that users can refer back to sections easily. I have also added back and next buttons to each page that the user should use for advancing through the module. I have set the next button to pause after 1.5 seconds but many of my slides continue to advance on automatically. Should I make sure the menu buttons have the pause after option unchecked?

Thanks in advance!

The way I understand that, is that after the 'pause' starts, nothing new is displayed untill an action is taken. Any animations that are running when the pause occurs still continue to run in their entirety. The project -should- not advance to any other slides until the user clicks one of the buttons.

    Welcome to our community, Jessica

No, that option *should* be checked.

But if your slides are not pausing, you may need to ensure you have a pretty recent version of the Flash Player/Plug In/Add in installed.

Also, where are you noticing the slides aren't pausing? I ask, because if you are using the preview where you choose to "Play this slide", the pause will not occur. You need to be previewing either the entire project, next few slides or in the browser to see it work as it should.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

I am viewing the published file in my browser. I will double check my Flash settings.

So, to clarify, every button on the page should be checked as "pauser after". I guess I was confused by the text provided in the Captivate help (see below). If all of the buttons are set to pause after 1.5 seconds, is the project waiting for any of the buttons to be clicked?

    "Pause after [#] seconds
Specifies the point at which the project should pause and wait for the user to click the button. For example, you can set this option to 5 seconds so the button displays and then 5 seconds later the project pauses to wait for the user to click the button."

    Thanks again!
