Hi Dan,

So its not a bug, its specific to your one project .. I really have no idea then.

I see that you are down one version. The newest one is 9.0.2.421. You may want to try upgrading but I always caution folks from upgrading mid-project. But if you don't resolve the issue and  it means having to rebuild the project anyways then you really don't have anything to lose.

Sorry I couldn't help you resolve the issue.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for the advice. I tried hiding slides, but that process did not reveal my bad slide - I hid all new slides including many that were included in a previous version that still works well, but my problem persisted. I ended up copying the new slides and actions one by one into my old file and testing the publish/view with each addition. All works fine now. I can only assume that my bad file got corrupted by something along the way.

Frustrating and it cost me a day of work, but at least the project has been recovered.

I also replicated and dealt with this problem.  Seemed related to having a file path as text.  example: C:user\....  When this was present it would not publish or allow the HTML 5 in Browser option to work.  If I changed it to break what would normally be viewed as a file path it would work.  I had to add spaces before and after the \ to get it to publish.  Example: c: \ users \ ..... \ .....  If you don't have a file extension I would check any other reference to what could be viewed as a link in a smart shape or text box.  I had no actual links or hyperlinks and it still caused a bug for me.  Hope this helps somebody.

Yes, you can expect a problem like this about 50% of the time with captivate 9. Bugs do creep in. I've just spent another round of two days with this type of stuff yet again.

That's OK... this is the bug tracking process- Its one of elimination. So lets continue..can you preview it in any other setting such as browser, next five slides, project etc?

Quick question Dan and Misha.  Are either of you using any third party widgets, widgets you bought independantly from Captivate?

Have you checked the HTML Tracker window to see if there's an object incompatible with HTML5?

Thank you for your suggestion, but  no items appear in that window. :/

And this is the general error I get when I publish it on Chrome (or safari for that matter)Screen Shot 2016-08-16 at 1.12.21 PM

Is this what happens when you try to preview or can you actually publish to HTML5 but not load the published project when you click on it? Subtle, but important differences.

Cheers
