Question

I cannot open a Powerpoint presentation in Captivate 8. Any ideas as to why?

I cannot open a Powerpoint presentation in Captivate 8.  I'm following the directions to double-click on the "From Powerpoint" icon to start a project.  I can double-click on a PP project, but then I get a message "Unable to import.  File may be damaged."  I know my files are fine.  Any ideas as to why I cannot open?

I realize this was a few months back. But I had this problem and exchanged numerous emails with support, with NO resolution.

I was running Windows 8.1 and Captivate 8 (64 bit).

Finally (and I should've tried this much earlier on) I decided to uninstall 64-bit Captivate and try 32-bit.

Voila. Problem solved. 32-bit imports .pptx files perfectly.

Hope this might be helpful for anyone else encountering this.

Okay, here's what I learned.  I can add a .ppt doc, but I cannot add a .pptx.  I have to convert the doc in advance to .ppt so it will load.  However, this does not occur for any of my co-workers.  They can load a .pptx and Captivate converts for them.  Thoughts as to why this is happening?

I am curently using version 6.  I get this message when I am attempting to import the PowerPoint while I have it open.  If you close the file along with closing PowerPoint, that usually takes care of it for me.  I hope it works for you in version 8.0.

rita6130, thank you for your suggestion.  However, I did not have the doc open and tried several different docs with the same result.  I rebooted my computer thinking this could be the cause, but unfortunately, this did not work either.

    Anyone else have any suggestions?
