Question

I need to create Fly-Out Menus

An upgrade to our core business application has created a need for me to recreate an architecture of fly-out menus. I need to be able to hover over a button, have a drop-down occur, and then each item in that drop-down contain a hover (link) to respective flyouts.

It's where our app went. I have to follow.

So....I know I can sort of 'almost' replicate this, 'cept that it will be completely undone if you bring the mouse through any of the hotspot zones prematurely. That's not going to cut it.

So I guess what I will have to do is create an architecture in another product, like Flash...and import the Captivate output files onto the stage in Flash...

Question: have you done this? Have you found that when you import your Captivate SWF that it retains all properties you intend it to carry? Do Captivate files render well in Flash?

I think I can do this in Flash. I mean, it's just a question of Actionscripting a framework of buttons that will exist as essentially the 'frame' of a series of Captivate outputs...I guess I just want to know - before investing the time - that Flash will accept what you tell your Captivate files to do, seemlessly...

Thanks -
keith

I agree - I think it has to be there. I'm looking at two of our core apps now and I simply cannot effectively replicate what's going on there.

I've gone from 'god' status to 'eh, he does all right work i guess'. LOL

    Thanks Frank!

It would have been nice if Adobe had beefed up its Menu Builder...This probably could have been tackled there....but oh well.

If you saimply loadMovie the exitsting captivate swf, then you will have no problems. Additionally you can import the swf - no problems either, as for the importing of the cp file, it has some quirkynesses itr neeeds getting used to.
