Question

Import 3rd party SCORM files

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the Adobe suite - we've previously used Articulate's software, we have a lot of existing e-learning created using Rise.

I was wondering if we are able to import SCORM packages from Rise to be further edited in Captivate (or any other app in the suite).

Could you let me know if this is possible please?

Many thanks,

Rob

Even if the original SCORM was created with Captivate, it would still not be possible to pull the published SCORM into Captivate and edit the content.  Both Articulate and Captivate require access to the original project files in order to perform edits and republish.

If you have created a lot of content with Articulate products, is there a reason why you have now chosen to change over to use Captivate?  Or is this question due to having lost access to the original source project files and now being unable to edit your courses?

Thanks Rod. It was a business decision to licence the Adobe suite, we are currently subscribed to both this and Articulate however I doubt we will renew the Articulate subscription once it expires.

I was hoping to be able to transfer the existing material from Rise as most of it's still relevant and will need to be regularly updated, however if this is not feasible I guess we'll just need to rebuild.

I sincerely doubt that is possible at all. SCORM packages are published, and are completely different from the 'raw' project file. Moreover there are so many differences, features which may be in Rise but not at all in Capitvate.

You probably refer to the Technical Communication Suite, because that is the only Suite which is still available. The only remaining eLearning application is Captivate.

A possible workaround could be to play the Rise project and capture parts of it as video to use in a new Captivate project. You can use Video Demo which is a separate application packaged with Captivate allowing screen capture. A video can be converted to an interactive video. However for all scored objects you'll need to create from scratch.

Thank you for the suggestion - I thought it was unlikely as I couldn't find anything online around it. Will need to have a think about the best way to get the material across to the new platform.

Completely understand. Captivate's projects have all a library which can be opened as external library in any project to reuse assets and shared actions. I doubt that is the case with Rise but am not sure...

If you can retrieve assets from the Rise projects, import them in the Project Library in Captivate, easier to work than having to import one by one. Just a small tip.

    Have a look at:
