I've been creating .swfs using Flash MX and importing them into Captivate as animations. They appear fine while i'm in edit mode. But they are blank when I preview in the web-browser and when I publish.

I'm having the same problem and it's driving me crazy! Can't seem to import flash files into captivate.

AS 1.0 might be the problem because Captivate 1.0.1 does not support AS 2.0

Don't worry about the reference to "root". It is a common warning, but seems to have no adverse affect on the file, or on Captivate. Concentrate on the AS 1.0 issue . . .

Hi All - I made the adjustments as noted above. Published at 30fps and Action Script 1.0. Checked transparency. Tried loading from top and bottom in Flash publish settings. Still no luck.

I tried some other experiments as well. I right clicked on the animation and tried moving to front / back etc. with no change in results. But, when I merged the animation with slide background ... i could see an image of my swf in the published and preview versions. But, it was static - not playing.

Thanks all for the quick response!
Here's more information. I'm using Flash MX Professional 2004.

Publish settings are: Action script 2.0 (might be the issue?).
Flash 6 at 30 fps.

Also recieved a warning message in Captivate immediatly following the import. The warning message says:
"... the swf file contains action script that references "root". This may cause the movie to stop working or to work incorrectly".

Looks like the ".root" is the issue?

I think the key to your problem might be the version of Flash you are using, but I could be wrong. Captivate 1.0.1 was designed to be compatible with Flash 2004MX - output (published) as Flash 6.0.

As I remember, Flash MX output version 5.0 files, but I could be wrong. Can you check it, Pete, with that in mind? Thanks!

Try seting the frames rate in Flash to 30 fps and publish the swfs as Flash version 6 files.

Let us know how you get on.
