Question

Import swf with text input fields

Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to import into Captivate, flash movies that are using input fields. Is it supported or is it just me who doesn’t know how to do it?

I’ve created a very simple flash movie (using Flash Profesional 😎 that has 3 frames. Each frame has a stop(), a text input field and a button to go to the next frame (or to the first frame for the third button).

I’ve set the frame rate of the flash movie to 30 fps and exported it, using Flash 6 version. If I’m playing the .swf using the flash player, the movie works perfectly fine (the text in the input field is editable and the buttons branch to the correct frames).

On the other hand, I’ve imported the movie from Captivate, using “Display for: rest of slide” for the flash movie option in Captivate.
I also added a button at the end of the Captivate slide that contains the flash movie to pause the Captivate slide.

When I’m publishing, as the buttons work perfectly (I can jump from one frame to another), but it is not possible to edit the text in the input text fields, it seems that the text within the input field is frozen…

Therefore my question: is it possible to import into Captivate a flash animation that contains text input fields without “freezing” them. As anyone had such an issue before?

Thanks

FD

Hi FD and welcome to our community

I'm not sure I've ever tried what you are asking. I'll have to defer to those that visit here with Flash experience.

However, hopefully you know that Captivate has the ability to insert a Text Entry field on a slide. From what you have posted, it would almost seem that you simply want three Text Entry fields. So my question to you is to ask why you would prefer to import a Flash movie that does this when you can easily do it right within Captivate? I'm sure that you have valid reasons. I'm just curious.

curiosity is not bad

in fact what happen is that I’ve done a flash movie in only one frame, but many layers and a lot of ActionScript. But my movie needs data provided by the user through text input fields…

In fact I was using Captivate to import PowerPoint slides and add the flash movie as a demo of what I am explaining in the “presentation” (the ppt slides).

The only problem is that when I’ve imported my flash movie… it didn’t work as it is working in the flash player.

So I did a much simpler flash movie to try to find the appropriate setting to make it work.

Any ideas?
