Importing Animate Canvas HTMLs into Captivate

I am a professor at a medical school. I have used Animate to generated an extensive collection of animated lessons.  These lessons are posted on the web at BioME.wvsom.edu. I have also used the canvas function of Animate to compose HTML excerpts of the full lessons. I want to embed these HTMLs into the learning management system we will be using at our school. That LMS is called Canvas, not to be confused with the canvas function of Animate. I have been told that I may be able to use Captivate to do so, but before I devote time to trying to get it to work I want to confirm that it might be possible. A potential method may be to import one of my HTML files into a Captivate slide. Then export that slide after setting the SCORM format. Finally, I would import the Captivate file into Canvas.  

 

I realize few if any of you are familar with Canvas, but does anyone know if it might be possible to use this method to import a file into PowerPoint? If that would work then I should be able to get it to work with Canvas. If that won't work, can anyone recommend another strategy to accomplish this goal.

    You can do this with Captivate, but not with the most recent version. I use Animate mostly to create OAMs to insert in Captivate as HTML animations. That is also impossible in the most recent version of Captivate, version 12.3 because it still lacks a lot of features. In the version, they now label as Captivate Classic you can insert a web object, and that is probably what you want to use. Than you set up Reporting in Captivate and when published you will have a SCO (Scorm compatible object) which you can upload without problems to Canvas, your Learning Management System.

    Why would you use a presentation tool like PPT for that purpose? Captivate Classic has also roundtripping functionality with Photoshop and Audition, and you can also use SVGs created with Illustrator.

    Thank you Lilybiri, that tells me what I needed to know. To answer your question I wouldn't want to use PPT. I only asked about it because I didn't expect anyone to be familiar with Canvas, the LMS we'll be using. But if it would be possible with PPT then it should be possible with Canvas.

    Personally I never have used Canvas, but have seen users in this forum using that LMS.

    Captivate (not the most recent version, sorry) has the possibility to check the result for the SCO in SCORM Cloud, which is THE standard for SCORM compatibiity. That allow to quickly check in case of issues, whether the problem is due to the authoring tool (Captivate) or the LMS. The SCORM templates available in Captivate have been authored by Rustici.
