Question

Importing animated text content

Hi everyone!

I'm working for a translation provider and we recently started a Captivate translation project.

I have an issue with the XML import feature for animated text: We ran tests and normal text boxes are updated with the translation. However, when it comes to animated text items, nothing changes and the text remains the same (but the text is present in the XML export).

Has anyone any tip on how to fix this? BTW, I'm also OK with scripting solutions.

Thanks for your help!

Alex

I think the first question you need to think about is whether or not you still want to include animated text captions in your content AT ALL because these objects are actually SWF widgets and SWF content now has no future in e-learning (according to Adobe's recent announcements).

Is this something your client has considered?

Hi Rod,

Unfortunately, upgrading animations is not an option.

Do you mean Adobe stopped supporting animated text importing just because Flash is an oudated tech?

Also I forgot to mention that these are Captivate 9 modules upgraded to Captivate 2017.

I'm saying you should be looking at publishing your e-learning courses to HTML5 rather than SWF as of RIGHT NOW to avoid having them all stop working overnight when whatever browser you (or your clients) are currently using one day soon releases an update the stops Flash content from working at all.

Text animations are ONLY for SWF output. There is currently no upgrade option to use them in HTML5.
