Importing audio..what are the pros and cons to Importing to slide vs click box?

This might be an obvious question to most but I am wondering is there a preference out there to import audio to slide vs. click box? I am importing audio to each of my slides but before I get to deep into it I was hoping someone could clear that up?

Basically there is the audio option on the menu tab or the add audio on the property box. They seem to do the same but is there a difference? I feel like I might be missing something obvious and don't want to have to go back and fix if I choose the wrong option.

Thank you in advance.

Michele

I did check to see if the visible check box was checked - it is. I had this problem once before and I unchecked and rechecked the

visible check box and it made it work. Tried that again and this time it is not working. Not sure why this is occuring again.

Do the objects have any transitions set?  If so, try setting to No Transition and see if it appears.

Also, check which layers the invisible objects are on.  They may be appearing underneath some other object.  I've found that sometimes Cp will show the object as being on a top layer even though it isn't.  If you select the object and use the toolbar option to bring to front, that can sometimes make the object appear correctly, even though its layer does not appear to change.

You can add audio at the slide level, or at the object level.  You can only have one audio track per slide, but you can have any number of objects on that slide and each object can have its own separate audio file.

The Add Audio button in Properties is for adding audio to whatever you have selected at the time.  If the slide is selected then it will add audio to that.  If an object on the slide is selected then that's what you'll be adding audio to.

That completley makes sense, I am importing audio only once

for each slide. The person talking is talking about the slide. I just wasn't sure if there was a preference out there on where to import the audio. Here is another question I am about to post maybe you have seen this before. When I add highlight boxes to the slide and hit F3 or F10 to preview the slide, they show up correctly. When I publish the file, they do not appear. Any idea why??

Check that the Visibility checkbox is ticked in the object's Properties.  Previewing with F3 is only animating the slide in Edit mode.  If the Visibility checkbox is not selected, the object will be invisible at runtime.

Hello Michele

A while ago I blogged about audio objects (audio attached to objects like click boxes, but most objects can have audio). You have a lot more control over that kind of audio: if the object is hidden, audio will not play, as soon as it is made visible audio plays. Whereas you can have only one audio clip attached to the slide, you can have as many audio clips as you want attached to objects on a slide (music + voice over is an example). Perhaps have a look at my blog post:

Playtime with audio and widgets

Hope this will make something a bit more clear
