Question

importing captions

I am having a pretty serious issue with Captivate 9 and importing captions. When I did it a couple times in Version 8, it was flawless. Exported the word doc wth the slide captions, I had them translated and then did an import and it was awesome. Very quick, no errors.

NOW...

when I do it in version 9, Captivate always crashes while it is importing. It gets to the end and then just closes.

Anyone having an issue with this?

I am on MAC using Yosemite with Captivate 9.

The usual reason for this issue is that your translation document fields contain some punctuation characters that are tripping up Captivate.

Try testing a re-import of the same UNTRANSLATED document back into the CPTX immediately AFTER exporting it.  If the same issue occurs, then the issue may be with characters that are ALREADY found it captions in your document.  You need to find them and change them BEFORE exporting the document for translation.

If the exported untranslated document can be reimported back without issue, then the problem must be with the translated text.  Look through it to see if you can spot any characters that are unusual.  Some languages seem to have special characters that give Captivate a headache like this.

Again, I think you make an excellent point. The ones I am importing are French, so man oh man, there aint nothing BUT strange characters there lol. I will definitely try to isolate this. GREAT suggestion!
