Importing Chinese closed captions

Hi all,

I've a problem with importing Chinese closed captions into captivate 5.

Firstly, the captions were exported in English then translated into simplified Chinese and imported into captivate.

The problem is in Chinese characters, some of them display different and incorrect in Captivate (after import), but in closed captions .doc file they are still correct.

This problem doesn't exist when I'm coping it manually (ctrl+c, ctrl+v).

Font I'm using is SimSun.

For example:

The correct word string is:

IT预算和人员编制将基本维持不变,但业务部门对IT服务的需求将增长17%以上。

In captivate it looks like:

IT杼算和人员编制将基本维持不变, 但业务漘樘对IT服务的椀求将增檁17%以上。

Difference is easy to see, for example third character.

I suppose it happens in import process.

Have you an idea what is going on? I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Patryk.

I had the same problem, but found the solution in another post in this blog. Choosing the MingLiu font instead of SimSun made the boxes go away.

In the end we solved it by changing our regional and language settings in the control panel:

  1. Select Start>Settings>Control Panel
  2. Select ‘Regional and Language Options’
  3. Select the tab ‘Languages’
  4. Click ‘Add’ and add ‘Chinese PRC’
  5. Open your Chinese e-learning module in Captivate 5
  6. Change the language in the language toolbar into Chinese

Hi Patryk,

I'm currently experiencing the same problem. Have you found a solution in the mean time? I'm about to do a large copy/paste exercise...

Kind regards, Berit
